About the event
Dementia, one of the top 10 diseases in the world, is the only one whose diagnosis carries with it an unintentional shame for so many. For the person diagnosed, for their family and for the community at differing times. This has created the stigma associated with diagnosis of a dementia related disease. Because of the lack of awareness and knowledge about the changes a person's brain is going through, many people find it uncomfortable to approach people living with dementia. Join Laura Lavoie, PAC™ (Positive Approach®to Care) Certified Independent Trainer, Engagement Leader and Consultant as she helps you understand the changes beyond memory issues that take place in the brain, and ways you can communicate well with persons living with dementia. Learn to walk toward and not away from your neighbor, friend, family member, extend a hand and a moment of friendship.
